The three of us explore the beautiful game in collaboration with designers Papa Ekow-Mensah and Ahmed Ibrahim. Together they have created a suite of applications that center on the history of Futbol, Newark’s Futbol culture, and how it builds community and the trio's united love for this great sport.

Creating a Brand that revolves around a soccer team called Newark Club Football will embody everything Newark is about. With this brand, we hope to create something that the community of Newark can invest in and proudly represent their city’s new club.

This website helps people understand the culture the sport has brought to New Jersey. It's also a way to celebrate players who have come through the ranks to make it big in the sport. Soccer’s popularity has grown significantly here in the United States. Major soccer stars are taking the place of American football stars as careers are being followed by kids throughout America.
The Heart of Newark: A Personal History of its Fields
Growing up in Newark, soccer was a big part of my life in my upbringing. I felt grateful for the opportunity to play soccer in such a vibrant and diverse community. Playing soccer in Newark’s parks isn’t just about the game itself it’s about the people, the culture, and the passion that brings us all together. The parks were a way of also giving me a second home I could go to. These parks are one reason I will hold Newark in a special place in my heart.

The title of this medium is “Futbol and I”, and the idea behind this medium is to map out the narrative of how I had to transition when I moved from Ghana to the United States through the telling of a digital short story. It will discuss how on a personal level the impact soccer had in helping my transition become easier. This medium will basically let the audience into how the presence of soccer in a person’s life can be beneficial, by telling the story of the journey through important incidents in my life revolving around soccer.

However, while technological advancements have resulted in fewer disasters, we face many such incidents in football. The footballing world recently witnessed many horrific mishaps that have led to many fans’ deaths.
